w/ CHARLOTTE BIIK BANDLIEN – Rogaland Kunstsenter 2013 – SS14 – Ethnographic Terminalia 2013 – AW14
Charlotte Biik Bandlien is an anthropologist specialized in material and visual culture. Because of Bandliens open approach to the field, HAiKw/ invited her to join them to further develop their amateur wardrobe studies. HAiKw/ has always based our research on interviews with friends, family and strangers about their relationship to clothing. Now in collaboration with Bandlien we were able to systematize our fieldwork and the following output in new experimental ways that exists somewhere between academia and free form expressionism. Continuing our initial wardrobe studies experiments that started spring 2013, Bandlien and HAiKw/ got more hands on when created the basis for the Healing Print featured in the HAiKw/ AW14 collection together, as part of our OCA-supported residency in Chicago in fall 2013. Undergoing healing treatments and using water color to process our bodily and emotional states of being we created a possibly therapeutic pattern. Charlotte Biik Bandlien has held positions as strategic brand planner at Bates Advertising and as researcher at the National Institute for Consumer Research. She is contributing editor to the fashion journal Personae and assistant professor at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, Department of Design. www.cbb.no
